If you own a website and you have something to sell online, you're on the right track. But you need to make sure the visitor, or your lead doesn't click out of the site before he even sees the "buy this" button. Learning the basics of copy writing will make you rich online.
Internet marketers learn early on that they have to know how to write a copy to make it big over the net. A "copy" is different from other forms of writing on the internet because of the persuasion or selling intent that's obvious from the way the text is structured. Some marketers who have mastered the skill of copy writing are now earning thousands. But what you need to know is that effective copy writing is not magic, it's something that anyone can do given the right strategies.
Basic Copy writing Strategies for Beginner Marketers
1. Create a Compelling Headline
The headline is your blog's name, title, description or your article's main point. Your headline should make a promise. The prospect is on your page for a reason (especially if he or she found your site on the search engines), so your headline must directly address that reason and promise a resolution for it .
2. Push the Right Emotional Buttons
You don't have to beg someone to buy your product. That's not what I mean by "getting them to be emotional". Being a good marketer means you can touch your prospect on the emotional level without begging.
Psychologists believe that impulse buying has something to do with a core emotion that drives the sale. For instance, if you're selling an anti-acne product, channel the prospect's desire to be beautiful. Emotional response is the main reason why someone can sell ice to Eskimos.
3. Make it Active
The word YOU is a very powerful word. Pretend you're talking to a friend when you write your copy. They want to feel like you're giving them and their problem your complete attention. You want them to feel that the whole letter is for them and them alone.
Here's the truth, people won't spend much time reading your copy unless there's something in it for them. Instead of using the words "I, Me or We" in your copy, use "You".
4. Real Problems, Real Solutions
This is the most important tip of all. Get to know your audience intimately. What do they hope to achieve? Does your copy say something about their problems and wishes? The copy you write must make the reader feel like you can read their mind.
For instance, a woman in her thirties is afraid of looking old. A mom is desperate to potty train her kids. A doting dad cannot sleep because his son's XBOX won't work and he feels useless as a father. These are real problems, and the internet is supposed to hold an answer to these problems. It's YOUR role to provide it and land a sale in the process.
