A Keynote is a speech or address delivered through words to promote enthusiasm and allow the audience to focus on one main interest and goal. An often time, this type of presentation called the keynote presentation is the most effective. It attracts the attention of your audience towards you and your report.
The keynote address or sometimes called the keynote presentation is designed to pass to the audience a hidden message in the speech. It is also made to summarize the most important part of the message or the core message.
Now, the question is, how can an individual be an effective keynoter?
A keynoter will be known as effective when he can convince the public to really focus on the presentation. How to do this? Some tips or ways to be an effective keynoter are listed below. Take note that only FEW of the many tips are give, not all.
Leave your audience clueless of some examples. Tell a story of an experience of someone that the audience DOES NOT know. Through this, they will be eager to listen to your report. Isolate them, like they do not know anything. Leaving them clueless allows you to give more sense to your speech.
Consume all the time. There is a deal between you and your audience. You, as a speaker, should deliver the message that you want while they have to listen very carefully. If the audience gave you a time limit, use it all until it is consumed. If you are not given a time limit, then use all the time that you want but be sure to inform them how many minutes or hours you have to spend to deliver significant parts of your reports.
HIT YOUR AUDIENCE WITH A JOKE. If you are naturally funny, you can use your humour as a communication tool. Being humorous is a wonderful tool to communicate to your audience. You could also make a joke out of yourself revealing your vulnerabilities and faulty works. Stories about other people, instead of the audience, will make a more positive learning atmosphere. If you direct a cutting remark to one of your audience, the atmosphere will turn to a fishy aura like there is something wrong, and that will distract your message from coming out. Insulting the listener, even if not intended to, will be defensive and will doubt to what the speaker is saying.
As a keynote speaker, do not just be satisfied with your best, but do better than your best. In this way, you will also learn something from what you are doing, and you will be imparting a significant talk to your listeners.
Aim higher than your goal.
