How Allergies Disturb Your Social Life
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
Allergic reactions are never fun. Food and drug allergies are just as dangerous, but it is different if you have the sort of allergy that gives you vicious reaction to what you inhale, then that's a social life killer.
There are allergens that when breathed in trigger asthma attacks in people. Common allergens for this type include pollen, insect particles, dust mites, molds and others.
Whatever kind you have, all allergies are critical. But the type of allergy that sets off a response to what you inhale is the worst social life killer. If you just avoid taking or eating those things that trigger your drug and food allergy, you will be all right. But if you have inhaled allergies, you don't have control on what the air around you carries.
Envision yourself in a field having picnic with a special someone, but you can't even take pleasure in the lovely surrounding because the pollens on the nearby flowers are giving you a hard time breathing for an entire minute without sneezing.
How about avoiding riding in a convertible with friends on countryside roads because even a tiny speck of inhaled dirt could set off your skin rash? For some, they can't even enjoy giving or receiving flowers because that would just give them a bout of watery eyes and runny nose. Not to mention, there are others who avoid getting pets at home because they are allergic to them.
And that's how nasal allergies destroy your social life.
And those are only the "mild" symptoms! When you have an allergy, your fun is restricted. It's hopeless to enjoy a romantic afternoon outing or a road trip with friends because you know what will happen.
There is still hope for those who have allergies. There are antihistamines that you can take. Just be careful, though. Antihistamines can usually make you drowsy. While they are far from perfect, they are still useful in reversing the effects of your allergies. The only thing that can cure your allergy is to avoid getting it.
Better arm yourself with antihistamines all the time. Have the non-drowsy type if you can find any. It's best to be equipped since you never know when you will need it. And of course, have a doctor check your allergies. There might be something else he can do that can help you.
