High School And Disabilities

High school is a place that many individuals find out who they are. It is a place of trail and error that causes growth in individuals. Many people often say that high school was great, but they would not do it again.
In high school students want to be distinguished, but accepted at the same time. Because everyone wants to be different, there is a lot of diversity within each high school building. There are also things like cultures, religious beliefs, and disabilities that cause differences.
Disabilities cause the greatest difference in students. Disabilities can cause emotional and physical distance from peers and limit their activity level. There are ways that students and schools can help the disabled student be active and accepted.
There are numerous disabilities. For each disability there are medical tools to help the individuals obtain a normal life. The medical tool that is commonly used is a scooter.
The scooter is often used in high school. It allows the student an easier way of traveling through a crowded hallway to get into a classroom. It also frees up their hands so that they can hold onto their books.
The scooter can also be used in sports. There are many sports that have been altered to allow the players to play in wheelchairs. Some of these sports include basketball, tennis, and baseball.
Wheelchairs and scooters cannot go up and down stairs easily and safely. Many schools accommodate this through ramps and elevators. This allows the students to access all of the building instead of being restricted to a certain area.
Disabled individuals can still live their lives even though they are disabled in some way. They can work around their disability instead of running from it. The use of a wheelchair is one way of working around or with a disability to gain back some independence.
