Turn A Webcam Into Surveillance System - Connect a Floodlight

This entry is another one in several publications depicting how to transform a mere webcam, also known as an IP camera, into a total surveillance and security system. Add lights, motion detectors, out-of-door enclosing, wireless adapters and even portable Internet cards to an Internet (IP) camera - and you get a robust, yet economical electric security guard. Web cameras such as these can be just right for watching over vacation homes and RV's, far-off job sites, faraway business hubs, or anything which needs updating in a regular basis. First step was to connect a PIR detector to the camera to activate it to send alerts and to get pictures or videos of those which actuated the detector. Step 2 is to connect a floodlight to dissuade would-be mischief or stealing.
A web camera is a video camera which feeds its photos in real time to a computer or computer network, via various connection devices. Their most popular use is the administration of video links, allowing local or faraway computers to serve as Digital Video Recorder (DVR), or more accurately, Network Video Recorder (NVR) hubs. This common use is reason why the Internet camera received its alias "webcam". Webcams by common knowledge have a lens, light sensor, and various support devices. Image sensors can be CMOS or CCD, with CMOS being dominant for affordable cameras, but CCD cameras don't actually outmatch CMOS-supported cameras in the affordable price range. Support devices installed within read the image from the detecting device and transmit it to a local host computer via Ethernet cable or any other kind of connectivity. Some cameras have the support electronics to turn on light to not only illuminate the sphere being supervised, but also serve as a theft determent.
