Epson, the brand, was developed in 1975, and created their first printer (a dot matrix printer) in 1978. While the products are revered as some of the best on the market, there are issues with the printers-errors- that occur persistently, it seems. One of the more prevalent issues seems to be ink-related errors. Some of the common printer ink errors might include improperly inserting the your ink cartridge, some colors not printing out properly, or your printer thinking you're out of ink when you just began using it. Consumers are then left with a worthless printer because it either doesn't work at all, or you end up with printed pages that look the original image. All of these problems can cause great frustration and are highly inconvenient.
There are tons of similar grievances from people having the same issues that can be found on a multitude of different websites. Apparently, the ink heads like to clog frequently and when they do so there is no way to easily fix the problem, unless you purchase a special liquid made by Epson- an additional expense added to the already high prices of ink. In addition to these mechanical complaints, consumers are not happy with the high cost of the ink cartridges themselves. To make matters worse, in 2003, a group of customers filed a lawsuit against Epson stating that cartridges were designed to read as empty before they actually were.
While there are alternatives to Epson ink- off brands, ink refill kits, and remanufactured ink that may reduce expenses to the buyer, they also may be met with deceptive error messages sent from printer to computer screen, halting any printing activities until a solution can be found.
There is a full range of printers within the Epson line, you can find very basic cheap printers that are meant for occasional use in the home, to much more expensive printers that have a lot of extra functions and are typically meant for a business. Whether it is the businessman in a hurry to make his presentation deadline, or the mother at home trying to print the last few pictures to finish a scrapbook page, the frustrations can mount when a relied-upon piece of equipment fails. On more than one occasion most people can relate to just wanting to just bash your printer to pieces to get it to work.
Avid Epson followers need to keep looking for solutions to their ink related dilemmas and maintain a sense of humor about it, whereas those less loyal will most likely search out items with less? history of glitches. There is hope, as more and more sites and bloggers address these issues, offering solutions so the customer is not forced to seek information from tech support. It would be a smart thing for Epson to start manufacturing products that aren't defective, especially on purpose, otherwise they risk losing a significant amount of their loyal customer base.
