Hair Sample Drug Testing – Reliable Approach to Detect the Presence of Drugs
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
Individuals who are abusing drugs are continuously rising in current times. Due to this, there are various tests which can be done to know whether an individual is a drug abuser or not. Among these tests, the most reliable is the hair sample drug testing method. This method is considered one of the convenient means of detecting drug abuse because it is impossible to tamper. This test can be performed almost at any place of your choice.
The hair sample drug testing method is used mostly to detect five main drugs – marijuana, phencyclidine, cocaine, methamphetamine and opiates. The procedure to perform this test is very simple and easy. The main requirement is a few strands of hair taken from the root of the individual who is doing this test. Once the sample of the hair is collected and placed in a specimen container, it is sent to the laboratory for testing. Compared to other tests, the hair sample drug testing method is preferred by the corporate because it does not involve embarrassing collection of samples.
The hair sample drug testing procedure is very accurate in determining an individual’s drug history. It is usually done by tracing amounts of drug chemicals trapped inside the cortex of each hair sample. This test can also confirm whether an individual has been abusing drugs in the past 90 days.
The result which is obtained once the procedure hair sample drug testing is complete cannot be tampered with because the sample is collected from the individual in the presence of the test supervisors. In contrast to these tests, paternity tests are performed to detect whether an individual is the father of a child or not. The accuracy rate of these tests is believed to be 99.9%. This test is very helpful in custody cases when the father of the child is claiming that he is or not the biological father of the child. There are a few different methods that can be used to determine paternity.
Postnatal paternity tests are done before the baby is born. In this test the DNA sample is collected from the eligible father and the child. This is generally considered one of the safest tests to determine the paternity as the fetus will not be disturbed while it is still developing in the uterus. Along with this test, amniocentesis is also a type of paternity tests which is done before the baby is born. In this test a small amount of amniotic fluid is taken out and tested. This is because the amniotic fluid contains DNA that can be matched with the DNA of the potential father. This is done only when the doctor is certain that there is no risk to the baby and the mother.
Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) is also a type of paternity tests which is performed before the baby is born. This is done by collecting chorionic villi from inside the uterus of the mother because it contains the same DNA as the unborn child. The villi are then tested for paternity. Since high risk is involved, these prenatal paternity tests are only performed once the doctor agrees to it.
