Tanzania Holidays For The Adventurous Outdoorsman

Tanzania holidays have much more variety than one might expect. It isn't just about being out on safari. When it comes to this African gem, there's something for everyone who loves the great outdoors.
To start with, there's world-famous Mount Kilimanjaro. Climbers will begin in farmland and wind up in ice and snow, enjoying spectacular views. Less well-known is the Mount Meru crater, which offers a three-day challenge for more expert-level climbing.
The Crater Highlands, meanwhile, provide a wonderful hiking experience. Guided hikes depart from the Ngorongoro Crater, and take you through exotic Masai country. They wrap up at the beautiful Ol Donyo Lengai volcano.
There's fishing, too. Fish in freshwater lakes, or you can go for big game fishing off the coast, where the waters are rich in tuna, swordfish, barracuda and marlin. Tanzanian fishing isn't as well known as Kenyan fishing, so it's less congested.
The Serengeti National Park is rightly world famous. For the large predators - lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena - the best time to visit is between June and October. December through July is peak time for the massive wildebeest migrations. You can take your safari on foot or in vehicle, or even via hot air balloon.
Nor is the Serengeti the only safari option. Selous Game Preserve is actually the largest single game preserve in Africa. It lies in the southern safari region, which in turn is but`one of four regions. You can only imagine the range of safari options that await you.
The Masai of the Serengeti are famous for their rock paintings as well as for their "singing rocks". On top of this, there's the big city, Dar As Salaam, one of Africa's thriving metropolises. As you can see, the table is set. A great variety of Tanzania holidays awaits you!
