This was much more common years ago, but it still won't hurt to be on the safe side before you depart.
Make sure you clarify ahead of time how much money the cruise is going to cost you plus what amount of cash might be needed up front when you depart. Most people will use a credit card as well as carry one with them for emergencies. There are still some countries that prefer cash. Most cruises will give you their own 'credit card', which you will use for any purchases you need on the cruise. If you have pets, you will need to have them boarded somewhere unless you are lucky enough to know someone that can take care of them for you. You want to have a good time on your cruise without having to worry about what you forgot at home.
