Going on a family holiday? There are a lot of things that you really don't want to forget to take along with you. That's especially true if you're travelling with very young children. It's no secret that they require much more care than other children and that their needs have to be attended to in a different way. One of the main things that you have to have when it comes to taking your children on holiday is the proper protection for them. A lot of families go to the beach for their holidays, and when you do that you put yourself at risk of skin damage from the sun. Protect your family based on what they wear (clothes that cover them, big hats, etc), and also make sure that they put on plenty of sun lotion. You'll have to apply it to the little ones, because they aren't able to do it themselves in a way that would ensure good coverage. However, that doesn't mean that you can't let them help and start teaching them early on about being responsible on a holiday. Protection from the sun isn't all your family needs, though.
Also very important is a safe place to stay where everyone will be comfortable, clothes that are appropriate for the trip and the weather, and toys and games for children. You can't take them all, but if they have a couple of favourites it's a good idea to bring them along. The same is true if they have a security blanket or something else that they hold onto at night. You don't want to leave home without these kinds of things. Make sure the area you're going to is family-friendly and that there are hotels, cottages, campsites, and activities that will be suitable. You'll have to decide what kind of accommodations would be best for you and your family, and you'll need to know what you're going to be eating. There may be people in your group who have special dietary needs or who have allergies, and you need to take that into account, as well
