What Is A Reiki Course?

A Reiki Course is all about getting initiated in this ancient Tibetan art of Palm Healing. Reiki believes in universal life force energy as an answer to all problems in the human mind and body and it is a course wherein the student learns how to access the infinite energy of the universe and channelize it through his palms on to his own or another's body for relaxation and more importantly, healing purposes.
The two words "Rei' and 'Ki' mean 'Universal' and 'Life force Energy' respectively. Reiki believes in the existence of seven Reiki chakras or energy whorls in a human body placed in a vertical line from the base of the spine to the crown of the head which are the receiving and transmitting points for the same, helping to maintain the energy flow and balance within the body as well as in tune to the infinite energy of the cosmos.
A Reiki Course helps one to access energy through his palms. There are two major facets of Reiki; the first in which, one learns to access the infinite energy through his palms receiving the same while the second allows the person to concentrate channelize that energy and direct it towards the parts of the body that requires healing. The Reiki course practiced today is a blend of the ancient Tibetan methods and the techniques developed by Dr. Mikao Usui (also referred to the Usui System). The latter helped popularize Reiki all over the world in the early 20th century.
A Reiki course is directed towards fulfilling two different purposes through palm healing. The first purpose is relaxation or whole body treatment. Thus, basic Reiki hand positions and palm healing techniques are taught in the Reiki course for opening up the different Reiki chakras which are blocked, and balancing the imbalanced energy flow of the Chakras for attaining wholesome wellbeing of an individual, physically, psychologically, mentally and spiritually.
The more prevalent purpose of the use of Reiki is to restore health conditions of one or a few specific parts of the body using palm skills. Usually, hand techniques are employed over the specific Chakras of the injured or ailing persons. To achieve optimum results in the healing process, one is taught advanced hand techniques and palm positions.
Three degrees exist in the Reiki Course. In the initial or key step, one is taught essential hand positions and stances. Once an understanding towards Reiki develops in the second level, Reiki symbols are picked up to help authorize the healing procedure. At the end of the second degree, one gets the power to heal others no matter where they are in the world. They can be cured over time and space.
In the third degree, a Reiki Master will guide the recipients to learn advanced Reiki symbols and achieve expertise in a chosen few of the same. With the completion of the third level, the recipient becomes a Master himself. He himself could now teach others and take Reiki Courses for other apprentices.
The steady course of action in which a Master undertakes the responsibility to make each student attain Reiki expertise is called the Reiki Attunement Process. It may be training, but this Reiki Course does not take place in a study room or a lecture hall. It happens when powers are transferred from the palms of the Master to the palms of the student, thus enabling him to practice reiki to touch and heal lives of his fellow human beings.
