Unfortunately, infidelity in marriage has become a very common problem in our society. Depending on the source, up to 50% of marriages experience one form or another of cheating. Whatever the numbers, spouses that have been cheated on face a steep uphill climb. Their confidence is shattered, they are very hurt and they can no longer trust. They have difficulties trusting anything that the offending spouse says or does.
So what can a cheating spouse do to re-instill trust in his partner (if they decided to work through the infidelity)? While there are polygraphs out there that boast a 70% accuracy rate, the truth is that the cost and the inaccessibility of these tools makes them less than practical. One of the things the offending person can do is to make it a habit to call in 3 times a day to chat and to let his spouse where he/she is throughout the day. Over time, this will show dedication and hopefully the partner will start to trust. But infidelity in marriage cannot be overcome with one or two quick techniques. Having said that, transparency is one of the major and sole factors for the rebuilding of trust between both spouses.
It is important to note that both spouses will undergo a period of pain and suffering after infidelity in marriage. The good thing is that the process of repairing the marriage will form a shared bond that will involve growth and development. It will be hard, but it can be done if you know how to! Trust can be regained after infidelity in marriage!
