Go to: Previous Article Next Article
We?ve all gone through it, it hurt after we got dumped in high school, it hurt when we were dumped in college, it hurt now, and it'll always hurt as long as we know how to love, but we do recover from it, we learn to deal with break ups, and most significantly, we learn to trust and fall in love again. It doesn?t matter who you are, what your status in life is, at one point in your life, you will need to learn how to recover from a break up.
What hurts the most in being dumped is that you still have feelings for your ex. And the more you long for his or her companion, the longer it might take you to get over the break up. Worsening the situation is if you still make an effort to contact him or her, shower them with gifts, or worse, stalk them, if your ex doesn?t return the affection you are showing, you are sure to get hurt even more. So make a clean break, go cold turkey on your ex and try to remove him or her from your life a.s.a.p. Maybe it is possible to become friends later on but currently, the very last thing you will require is being reminded of his or her existence and your longing to be part of it.
Erase all forms or means of contact that you have with your ex. Erase all his or her phone numbers, emails, messages, letters, and any links to social networking. If your ex is your ?friend? on your social network accounts, you may just keep on looking at their updates and end up spying on them, hurting yourself even more when you see that he or she has moved on.
Release all your negative emotions, shout, ?privately?, if you need to, cry as much as you can, talk to someone you can trust, or plainly write down anything that you want to vent out. It is not only a great release, but it will also prevent buildup of pain, anger, loneliness, and frustration which can lead to depression and so much emotional stress.
Give yourself a fresh start. Change the way you decorate your home, move some furniture, remove old photos, heck, you can even paint your home which can help you busy and keep yourself from thinking about your past relationship. Shedding away old memories will allow you to get rid of the emotional pain faster.
Take charge of your life and pamper yourself. There is no better time to show love to yourself than after a breakup. If you can, try to splurge on yourself, get a massage, go on a vacation, buy yourself some new shoes, whatever it is, what?s important is that you are taking control of your life once again and you are you by yourself and not just a part of somebody else?s life. The faster you learn how to recover from a break up, the faster you will be able to prepare yourself fully into entering another one and maybe this time it would be for keeps.
