Do What You Can To Save Your Marriage

A marriage in trouble deserves some serious soul-searching. Of course, divorce seems to be the easiest way out, but before you go in that direction, spend some time on your own and ask yourself these tough questions:
* Are you tired of being married? * Are you tired of your spouse? * Are you tired of your kids? * Does the grass on the other side of the fence look appealing now? * Does the word "divorce" come to mind more often than you'd care to admit? * Do you find yourself staying married to your spouse because of your children? * Do you find yourself staying married to your spouse afraid of what other people might say? * Are you asking yourself now if you should save your marriage? * Are you still interested in saving your marriage? Or have you basically given up?
No one else can answer these questions, except you. You can discuss these questions with your parent, your sibling, a close friend or two. But make sure you ask yourself those questions and answer them honestly and truthfully. You owe it to yourself. Before you set out to save your marriage, you've got to take care of yourself first. Allowing yourself some quality time to focus on yourself will give you enough time to think things through.
Schedule some regular pampering time. Maybe you're overextending yourself that you're simply tired - tired of work, household chores, and endless errands - but not really tired of everyone else. Be good to yourself. You can't be everything to everyone, without it taking a toll on yourself.
Don't play the blame game. When you're dissatisfied and unhappy with yourself, it's easy to pin the blame on other people. You blame others for not making you happy. You blame others for making you feel taken for granted. You blame others for taking advantage of you. Own your emotions. Be responsible for your happiness.
Start talking. Talk honestly and openly. Share your feelings with your partner and children. Be open. Let them in your life. At the same time, be a part of their lives as well, without meddling. Be more positive. See the good in others. Don't take your partner for granted. Start saying thank you to your spouse and family. Let them know that you appreciate their assistance, consideration and thanks every now and then. Just remember, give it time. Saving a marriage requires a lot from you and your spouse, even your children. Of course, you can't save your marriage on your own. Make sure that your spouse is willing to work on your marriage as well.
