Golf tournament trophies range from the old and traditional to the very unusual tournament trophies. While such venerable trophies as the British Open are a stylized claret jug, newer trophy styles may not be as easily identified. However what they symbolize, is triumph of a team or an individual over the sport and their own limits.
While many trophies have become famous for what they symbolize, they are not by any means standardized or sometimes even considered beautiful, but they are coveted by golfers. In a few cases, treasured mementos are as glittery as a gold plated golf ball. Other types of tournament trophies are golfing figures caught in mid swing and considered traditional they can range from solid wood bases with engraved plaques to molded metal trophies or even crystalline figures.
For sheer, difference in trophies, perhaps the U. S. Masters Green Jacket trophy is one of the more coveted and non-standard types. It consists literally of a green jacket which the winner receives and has the right to wear. In addition, the winner will receive a small gold medal. While these prizes may be unusual in styles or even in some cases believed unattractive they are certainly something most golfers want very badly. No matter how large or small or odd looking a trophy might seem to others the winner will put it in a place of honor. There are no standards in style when it comes to trophies, but winners without exception consider each one a treasure.
Styles change with golf trophies most times the player does not care if the trophy is a green jacket or a miniature replica of Barclay bank; it is what it represents that matters. While most smaller club tournaments tend to stick to crystal golf trophies or traditional metal on wood base trophies there is no rule that says, a trophy cannot resemble a piece of art deco. Of course, it is nice when it has been engraved, because these are after all the ultimate keepsake treasures.
