What You Need To Know About Buying A Koi Aquarium

In the past decade Koi have become immensely popular and lots of people are starting to keep them as pets because of their beautiful colours.

One reason that you may want to keep a Koi aquarium is because you don't want to leave them ouside.

Also as you probably realise keeping your Koi in a Koi aquarium will protect them from the dangers of the outdoors.

As I'm sure you already know Koi will grow quite large, well over a foot long so it is important to know that you will need a good sized Koi aquarium if you wish to keep them inside.

Keeping Koi in a Koi aquarium is not a good thing to do for a couple of reasons.

Firstly Koi can become very active and splash about sometimes when they become excited so this is not good for the aquarium.

The second reason is that in the wild there is always more than one Koi in a pond often times hundreds, but in a Koi aquarium you must only have at most two Koi for every 150 gallons of water.

And the last reason that it is not a good idea to keep Koi indoors in an aquarium is that in the wild Koi will sometimes try to leap out of the pond if they get a burst of energy so you will need a strong lid for your Koi aquarium.

However if you can find a big enough Koi aquarium then theres no reason why you cant do it anyway. Just make sure that your Koi get atleast 150 gallons per one or two fish.

I have looked around the internet and in local pet stores and have found that on average for a new Koi aquarium you will pay around $600.

In my opinion it's not the best idea to keep Koi in an aquarium, it's a much better idea to buy goldfish or tropical fish.

So to conclude it's not a great idea to keep Koi indoors in a Koi aquarium but it can be done. Make your decision wisely.
