One draw back to an LCD television is that the images can become distorted if you sit too close to the set or watch from an angle. For normal viewing from a chair or a couch a few feet away you'll get optimal picture quality.
There are some other advantages to LCD TV's as well. Unlike plasma screen TVs, they require no special installation they just have to be plugged in and turned on like any other set. Another advantage is that it doesn't generate excessive amounts of heat the way a plasma screen does. Plasma screens in enclosed or small spaces can put out so much heat they become fire hazards. LCD's also tends to not burn as much electricity as plasma screens so they're much easier on your electric bill. Plasma screen TVs can use up so much power they'll actually increase your electric bill.
The optimum sized television for the average room or home will be around 32 to 42 inches. This will give you a screen big enough to enjoy high definition programs without hurting the eyes of viewers. When watching on a screen that's to big it can overwhelm the viewers eyes and make the experience less enjoyable. If you have a large spacious room where you're able to watch from a greater distance then a big screen television makes sense, but in most cases people find that a good mid-sized model is a good fit.
Another advantage to a 32 inch LCD TV set is that it will cost about half the price of a 60 or 65 inch models, you still get that HDTV picture quality while saving money upfront, and you'll save on energy consumption in the long run as well.
