Xbox Kinect May Not Be Worth The Price

The Bad
Most people or writers like to start off with good news, that way it lessens the blow of the bad news. Ive never felt starting with good is the way to go. I prefer to begin with the bad news and then leave you with the positive spin on it.
I've had my xbox kinect for about a month now so I have had plenty of time to test this bad boy out. Everything was good at first.I was taken back by the power of the system that sat before me. But then I started to notice a few things that if I had been told before hand, I may have second guessed the purchase.
The first and perhaps most annoying issue was the space required to be able to play. You need at least a 6 foot by 6 foot area to be able to play. If you have a big house than you needn't worry, but if you have an apartment or dorm room than its a big deal. I myself live in a town house. When my son or I wants to play we have to move everything into the kitchen.At first this was no big deal, now its really inconvenient.
Secondly, the games that I have played so far are more like a demo than a full size game.Your Xbox Kinectwill come with one game which is 'Kinect Adventures.' You look for new adventures all around the world. In kinect adventures there are only 5 adventures for you to play. This game is alot of fun to play but the problem is it leaves you wanting more. Only there is no more.
I got Kinectimals for my son which he has enjoyed. In this game you have a pet tiger that you play with and train. You can choose from a few different animals, my son chose the tiger. You can teach your cub new tricks using voice commands or just have some free time to bond. TAt first my son was very entertained with this game but that didnt last very long.
The placement of the xbox kinect was also a very big inconvenience.If you already have an entertainment center setup with room to spair than you need not worry. I do not have that luxury though. The kinect will have issues tracking you if you place it on the floor or on top of the tv. I purchased a shelf for it to sit on from the hardware store. I know this one isnt as big of a deal but its still something that is frustrating at the time.
The Good
The xbox kinect will be a wonderful addition to your entertainment as long as these issues are ok with you. The Xbox Kinect is an amazing system. With time the xbox kinect will become more responsive and more advanced than any other gaming system.This technology will only continue to grow.
Microsoft is always upgarding and making new games. As we continue on they will only get better.I don't know if they will ever enter the world of a first person shooter but at the same time this system is not targeted at the hard core gamer. It is more for families and kids. I do enjoy playing with my son but I also enjoy jumping online and playing some halo.
