The Razor E100 Electric Scooter Review

For some considerable time my seven year old son pleaded with me to buy him an electric scooter. Quite a few of his friends had them and so that's always an enticement for a young one.
So, I did a fair bit of research around the mums and dads at our local play area and came to the conclusion that the Razor E100 Electric Scooter was probably the best way to spend my money.
There had been only one problem I was told , which turned out to be a delivery problem where one dad had it delivered a day before his daughters birthday and when she saw the box she couldn't wait to get going with it. It comes in a preassembled condition but he said it only took him about fifteen minutes to assemble and that there were clear instructions and tools provided, so that wasn't a problem at all. The problem was that once it was all assembled and ready to go that they found the battery needed a twelve hour charge - so he had one disappointed daughter on his hands - but anyway she was thrilled the next day to go play with her friends and learn how to ride it.
So, if you are buying one as a gift, be prepared for this and charge the battery in advance.
Well, bearing this in mind, I ordered my son's Razor E100 Electric Scooter and had it quietly delivered about a week in advance to his birthday. Of course, I removed the battery and had it well charged beforehand.
I left the assembly until his birthday as I always think it's good mechanical training to assemble these things with your son, therefore getting him involved with the assembly process.
After that we took the scooter down to a quiet area of the park where he could learn to ride it.
This didn't take him more than five minutes and he got more and more confident as the afternoon wore on.
Razor E100 Electric Scooter are actually quite fast with a top speed of 12 to 15 MPH, but they do have a good handbrake if your child gets in trouble.
We've had the scooter now for around four months and haven't suffered any reliability issues with it at all and the best thing to me is that my son still uses it everyday after school, as do his friends.
The only problem we've found is that if he turns into a hard right hander the chain guard can scrap lightly on the ground but it doesn't retract from the performance and I only see this as a minor niggle.
We got ours with all the accessories you can buy from Razor - that is a Razor helmet and a back up battery. The manufacturer states that the battery will last for 40 minutes but we've had well over an hour and a half with it.
All in all we're a really pleased with it. They are very inexpensive at under One Hundred Dollars which made me very nervous at first and the reason I did quite a lot of research on it first, but the performance and reliability has been fantastic.
We highly recommend this scooter.
