Dogs would always be the most loyal and affectionate pet anyone can ever have. These affectionate creatures have become man's silent best friends - always ready to offer comfort and protection. It would not be surprising then if dogs are considered to be the most pampered pets. Pet owners on tight budgets would not hesitate to shell out bucks as long as it will ensure the well being of the pet. Despite the long association, a pet owner would not really know what the dog feels. The dog's inability to speak will always be the concern of pet parents especially if the pet is noticed to be under the weather.
Dogs bond closely with the owners. This is very apparent by the inclination of the master and pet to be always together. It is really quite amusing to see pet parents that can't seem to take the eyes off the pet. A dog that is considered as the apple of the eye of the master will be watched even when sleeping. A dog owner watching the pet sleep will certainly be apprehensive if the pet suddenly shakes violently. Seizures are common in dogs thus an owner would worry that the pet is fitting.
A dog that shakes while sleeping may have an underlying health concern. An uncomfortable feeling can make a sleeping dog shake too. Cold weather can be the reason why the sleeping dog shakes especially if it is not provided with adequate shelter. Sleeping puppies will shake too if they have crawled away from the mother's warmth.
The dog though may not have a medical concern and the shaking can be attributed to a dream. Dogs have a reputation for being great sleepers. A dog would dream if it is already in the rapid eye movement stage of sleep. Just like in humans, a dog that dream is experiencing again what has happened when it was awake.
Sleep walking or talking in their sleep happens when a person dreams. The same is true with dogs. A dog will shake if it is dreaming of giant rabbits. Abused dogs are noticed to have more shaking incidents as it is believed that the dog will relieve the traumatic experience while sleeping. Dogs are happy creatures thus it is expected that they will have happy dreams but nightmares will make these animals shake in their sleep too. Dogs would normally stop shaking after a while but a touch or your voice will help calm the pet.
