Dog owners would know that a dog can die if left in a car with closed windows when the weather is hot. But did you know that allowing these pets to stick their heads out of car windows is dangerous as well. It is not uncommon for dog owners to take the pet around because dogs are really affectionate and loyal pets.
It is not uncommon to see a dog's head sticking out of trendy tote bags. Dogs are well loved and even considered as the owner's baby thus they are commonly made to wear clothes and trendy collars and leashes. Thus it is not uncommon to see dogs wearing dog goggles at the back of cars with the head sticking out of the window and the long hair blowing freely in the wind.
Dogs are very curious animal. A dog owner would know that their pets would rather be off leash than leashed because dogs would love to investigate. In a car, a dog would not have the freedom to follow wherever their ultra sensitive senses would lead them but by sticking the head out of windows, the dog will be exposed to the succession of changing scenery. Hmmmm - the aroma of grilling burgers in a fast food chain would make the dog's mouth water.
Dogs love to feel the cool breeze in their faces and sticking the head out of car windows is akin to running unrestricted by a leash. Dogs have a rather poor cooling system. Simply by lolling the tongue and sticking the head out of the car, the pet can cool its body.
A dog wearing goggles and sticking the head out of the car window will attract attention. The dog owner will not only be noticed but would be admired as well. A pet that sticks the head out of running cars can get injured. The dog can be injured by the shower of stones and dirt kicked up by the cars wheels. There is also the danger that the dog startled by a loud sound would jump off the car. If you will give in to the whim of the pet make sure that it is safe. Teach the dog to wear doggie goggles and to use seat belts.
