You CAN Make Residual Income From Home, If You're Smart

Making money from home by residual income isn't always easy; if it was a breeze then everyone would be doing it. If you are willing to see working from home as real work and also willing to develop your online presence, you can be one of the many who are able to make a sizable income from home. Just make sure that as you wade in these waters you avoid those who would prey on your optimism with lies and false promises.
Residual income is basically earning income residually, that is, earning a little more money over time after the initial work or sale is finished. If you make a sale for an affiliate by posting a link or sending an email, for instance, if you were earning commissions off of a residual income setup you would earn commissions off of future sales from the same customer. You don't personally push for the second (or third, or fourth) sale, but you still earn some commission off of it.
Many of the popular residual income programs operate like the one I described above. You find an affiliate site or company that wants you to recommend or advertise their product. You use your web presence to make that recommendation and hope to get the income rolling in. You continue to get commissions as long as the customers stay subscribed to a service or as they make future purchases from the same site.
There are many websites with affiliate programs or a list of links to others--you don't have to look far. Subscription services are often good targets for your residual income plans because the subscription is more likely to help encourage your referrals to continue their services and offer you more commissions over time. Subscription sites that more commonly have residual programs are site like dating, adult content, or gambling sites. More traditional online retail stores often offer a similar program.
Make sure that you look at the fine print and research the company before you sign up for a program. Look for what other people have said about participating in their program, and make sure you are happy with their terms and payout. Be wary of companies that offer the world for in exchange for little results on your part--all legitimate companies are looking for a win-win situation (or at least one in which they win).
There are other methods for making residual income besides recommending affiliate sites. Writing web content can also return residual commissions. Some How-To sites and the like will pay you for articles that you write and offer you more money overtime for articles that are popular or inspire a lot of click-throughs from their ads. You can make your own content and try to market it yourself (eBook writing is becoming popular), but keep in mind that you will be leaving the realm of residual marketing and into a more traditional from of market then.
However you plan to make your money, you will benefit from having your own web presence with plenty of traffic so you have a lot of people to refer and make recommendations to. If you don't have your own site or online marketing program, you should think about how you plan to build this up (unless you are thinking about making content for an established website). It would serve you well to become familiar with all of the online marketing techniques.
If you are willing to treat a home job like a real job, a home-based residual income scheme might work for you and pay off sometime down the road. Just go for it headstrong with a little bit of wisdom and planning.
