Some people like to add a photo of themselves on the cover of the card so that they are easily identifiable.

Business cards have the ability to fit comfortably into your wallet, your bag, or even your pocket. You have the option of giving them to new co-workers, associates, friends, acquaintances, and family if necessary. You can store them in your vehicle, your portfolio, your planner, or your briefcase. It's an item that you should never go anywhere without.

An effective business card need not be overly flashy or extravagant although it can be if you so desire. It can be plain or fancy, on flat paper stock or glossy, black and white or full color, on a neutral color or a colored card stock. You could even have them embossed if you want!

Your business card can be customized to be uniquely yours and you want it to be. You want your business card to be a piece your clients and potential customers will immediately recognize and associate with you and something they will hold onto or pass along to their friends.

Don't waste space on your business card. There is already limited space, so take advantage of every inch. Use the back of your business card to get attention as well. You can include information on specials you are running, appointment information, or put a list of high profile customers you have worked with.

Try to think outside the box! For instance, if you are a photographer, include several photographs on the back of your business card. If you offer a personal shopping service, make the backside a shopping list. If you are a chef or a caterer, include a quick-and-easy recipe on the back.

The way you create, design, and use your business card is only limited to the sky. Allow your creativity to flow so that you can get the most out of the best business tool ever made. Business cards are definitely a necessary expense, hopefully you think so too.

The single best business and marketing tool that you'll ever find, that is also cost efficient, is your personal business card. But you must put them to good use. Use a professional printer to produce them and keep them with you at all times. Put them up at interesting locations, jot notes on them and give them away, and absolutely share them with everyone you can.
