Marketing Techniques To Aid Your Catering Business
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
The target market should be a primary consideration when creating a marketing strategy, this you should make note of in your marketing plan. Below are some common marketing schemes and views on how you can adapt to suit your particular business needs.
Print Media and Websites
Event magazines and websites are viewed not just by people in the profession, it's also widely read by potential customers, and having your ad in one of them increases your chances of reeling in clients or being referred to others. Garnering the attention of event planners does not necessarily mean that you'll be getting that call to hire your services, but it does increase your chances of being included in the short list of bidders. Event publications and websites usually concentrate their interest on the city, so if your operations are focused outside the city, advertising on these sites won't give you as much advantage.
Media
Being present in prestigious affairs could also be an edge you can exploit, these affairs could be mentioned in the media and it's one way for you to advertise your business. To start with, you could find some non-government organization that holds an event big enough to garner press coverage, and then offer to cater for the event for a discounted rate. Once the press covers the event, you are now in a position to get your company mentioned in the press release as one of the vendors in the event. Inserting in your contracts the right to send out announcements to the press would go far in ensuring that your company would be constantly on the media; it should also pose no problem to the client as it would be beneficial for them as well. For private affairs though, this clause may be counterproductive for your client so you might be asked to delete that part of the contract.
Establish a Formal Referral System
A formal referral system would better ensure that your business would get the necessary exposure, much better than waiting for your clients to recommend you to their friends of their own accord. Giving concrete incentives to your clients would further encourage them to refer your business to their friends; it would also help if your sales personnel would make it a practice to collect referrals from your customers. When you do get a successful referral, don't forget to thank the client who believed enough in your services to refer you to their friends. It is not enough to just call or send an email, send them a handwritten note or a gift so that they'll know how sincere you are.
