When Finding A Stun Gun

Go to: Previous Article Next Article

"For many years now, stun guns and pepper sprays have been successfully utilized by law enforcement agencies. As a matter of fact, the utility belts of policemen have their own standard issue of pepper spray and stun gun.

Stun guns are small devices that have two or more prongs which can produce an electrical charge. This charge, when applied for 3 to 5 seconds on an attacker, will disable him from 5 to 10 minutes, buying the victim time to escape or seek help.

Many manufacturers are now producing these gadgets these days. One can choose from the different designs being sold today. So how will you choose which of these types are suitable for you? So far, the most popular one is the pretender stun gun.

It is called a pretender because it is disguised as something that it is not. This gadget can look like anything we use daily. Example is a stun gun that looks like a cellphone. The gadget emits a charge of 4.5 million volts. For the safety of the owner, there are two safety levels built into this device which prevent accidents. There's a safety switch that is flipped only when you are about to use it and a trigger button. This gadget can also look like a 12 LED flashlight. It measures 4 inches in length, 2 inches in width, and an inch thick, making it easy to carry and conceal. There is also a pretender stun gun disguised as a lipstick. It is only 3 and 5/8 inches in length and 7/8 inch in diameter. One can use it as a flashlight.

These gadgets aren't designed to cause serious injuries unless of course if you apply them to a person for a very long time. The user is also safe from getting the shock himself unless he touches the prongs while setting off the trigger.

This is ideal for those ordinary citizens. You can just let the law enforcers handle those standard devices. They need this for their job and they don't have to conceal these devices. An ordinary citizen, on the other hand, doesn't carry these gadgets in their utility belts. So he should conceal this from someone who is planning to attack him.

Attackers are very cautious and before they make their move, they observe their targets thoroughly. So he will either avoid attacking you because of your weapon or he will bring a weapon himself. However, the advantage of concealing this weapon from an attacker, he will think that you will be just one of his helpless victim and he can easily subdue you. Though there are attackers who will avoid those who carry obvious weapons of self defense. But, quite possibly, you will also become a social outcast if you are brandishing a self-defense weapon on your belt even if your job isn't about law enforcement.
