HTML is a computer language devised to allow website creation. These websites can then be viewed by anyone else connected to the Internet.

HTML is a computer language, albeit a very limited and specialized one. As such, if you want a system that you can evolve easily over time, you need to pay attention to writing HTML that is clear and self-explanatory.
HTML is intended to describe the logical structure of a text document, which can also contain some inserted graphical elements. HTML is not intended to reproduce the precise appearance of a visual effect dreamed up by an artist.
