Learning Spanish - Hints & Tricks To Learn Faster
Picking up a new language is not as difficult as you might think. Nothing is more natural; it can actually be quite a bit of fun to master a new language! A whole new world is opened when you learn a new language. Consider how much more comfortable you'll feel if you do any traveling. It will even increase your communication skills right where you live. If you know two or more languages, you are also qualified for many more jobs. If you live in the United States that second language is usually Spanish.
In certain areas, more people speak Spanish than English. That's why people who are bilingual and can translate Spanish are highly in demand right now.
When first learning Spanish, one of the most important things to consider is how your accent sounds. The proof of how well you know a language is in how you sound speaking it, not how well you know the rules of grammar. You can improve your speaking by getting Spanish books or magazines and reading out loud from them. Whenever you hear people speaking Spanish fluently, record the words in your mind and repeat what you can recall later. When you do this, you will start to understand the right way to use inflections and put words together into correct sentences. An added bonus is that reading out loud in a separate language--especially when you work at it--is a lot of fun. Think of how it felt to learn songs when you were a child; this can be similar.
Try to remember to have some patience. It will take longer than 24 hours to become fluent in Spanish. You could have all the rules of vocabulary and conjugations memorized yet still have some difficulty with the sentences. Your progress will suffer if you try to become fluent too quickly and put pressure on yourself. Just let your self take it slowly. Doing this will let you feel more comfortable with learning. If people know you're learning their language, when you talk to them they'll be more patient with you. If you try to learn too fast and become over-confident, you run the risk of accidentally offending a person in a conversation if you make a mistake.
Whenever you can, start to think in Spanish rather than your native language. You have to use an internal translation process, where you take your thoughts from one language and put them into the new one. You will need to start slow with this. Periodically throughout your day ask yourself how you would say the words you are thinking in Spanish. if you do this often, you'll find that you get much more skilled at it. You'll find that the internal translation starts to get easier. There will come a point when this will become automatic, and you'll think in Spanish without trying. Then, to improve your conversational skills, you'll want to practice speaking your thoughts out loud.
