LED Grille Lights and the Reasons Behind Their Increasing Popularity
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
LED grille lights can be mounted in the front close to the radiator grille and are designed in such a way that a few screws or the optional flush or flange mounting can hold them tightly or securely in place. The grille LED lights are compact and slim, circular or rectangular in shape and are used for providing intensely bright lighting without a lot of circuitry involved. The kit comes with pigtail connectors, power cables, mounting accessories and spare domes or lenses which are used if coloured lighting is needed. The grille LED light heads are increasingly becoming popular because at $50 apiece, they are inexpensive and at the same time extremely efficient in terms of what they do.
LED grille lights are firstly popular because they are compact and inexpensive, portable and efficient. They can be mounted or dismantled within a matter of seconds and hence they are ideal for temporary mounting on any vehicle. However, it is to be noted that for a variety of cars from Chevy, Ford or even the Dodge models, these lights are customised to provide perfectly secure mounting. The circuit is powered by a 12 V DC power supply and grille LED light heads are astonishingly bright for a circuit that has less than 500mA of current. For the same reason, these lights are safe too, with special protection for polarity reversal as well.
Surface mounted LED grill lights are sometimes fluted across the entire length of their frontal face which promotes the off axis visibility of these lights too. Transparent clear or coloured domes can be used depending upon the nature of emergency lighting required. When the grille LED lights are for illumination, clear lenses and domes prove to be more efficient. When flashy lighting is required to attract attention to the emergency vehicles, the grille LED modules have coloured LEDs or domes. There are built in flash patterns too and the light heads’ flashing and occasional quad bursts with maximised lighting output can prove critical in bad weather conditions to alert approaching vehicles, letting them pull out and offer a free way to the emergency vehicle plying at high speeds.
LED grille lights whose flashing can be synchronized with that of dash and deck lights come with a synchronization wire. Their encapsulation protects them from dust, liquids and moisture including water splashed from the ground. Slimmer grille LED light heads are preferred because they are lightweight and not more than couple of inches thick. Their sturdiness is because of a polycarbonate base which is rugged and supports the equipment. Side by side split flashing is another feature often seen in compact lights. Waterproof and weatherproof grille LED lights come with multiple mounting options. There are compatible switch packs that make operating the lights easier. These are sometimes hardwired with the light heads mounted on the grille. The grille light heads are popular because in spite of just a few LEDs in their light heads, they can provide visibility with plenty of user selectable flash patterns whose flickering cannot be missed easily.
