Organizing Everything

Ever wonder how some people keep their homes immaculate while others struggle to do so? I used to wonder the same thing. Is it their upbringing? I've known cases where the kids turned out to be the opposite and vice versa. I've also known people who used to thrive on living in a chaotic space, who are now keeping tidy spaces without letting cleaning interfere with their life. I used to be messy too, but now I keep my spaces clean because I realize the value of saving time and the ease of getting everything I need within reach. Reading through books on organization made me realize that being organized is a habit. The basics of organization is extremely simple, but it just takes more self- discipline to actually carry out. I've learned a three step system that you can implement in any room in any space. Here's how to organize anything:
First, you need to toss out everything that is unnecessary in your space. This step might be difficult for people who feel sentimental attachment to their objects and thus don't want to throw anything away. If it is truly important but you don't use it everyday, store it in a safe place where you can admire it from time to time. If you are not using something on a regular basis, it shouldn't be out cluttering your physical as well as mental space. You will have less to occupy your mind with, and you will very likely find yourself more focused. Ever wonder why you're more productive in certain spaces than others? Your environment affects you on more than just a conscious level. Effort spent 30 minutes now to maintain a space free of garbage and clutter will seriously free your mind.
Second, you need to assign a home for everything. This calls for you to mentally designate or physically designate spaces that you will call home to certain objects. Ever wonder why you can't find something? It's because you didn't make a space where it should go specifically. Like the old adage, a place for everything, and everything in its place. If you don't have space, don't just pile it on a desk. Buy some transparent drawers and assign an in and out box. Many times it's not having the right supplies that drives us to disorganization. Having organizer boxes can save you space in your home by utilizing the vertical nooks and crannies.
Lastly, you'll need to keep your residence clean! Evaluate your space every week to see what's working and what's not. Simply choose a room and look at where you invest by far the most time. Make sure that space is totally clutter free. Designate other corners and less utilized areas for storage space, and take out the trash.
Keeping organized is not as challenging as you might think. All it takes is throwing trash out, designating a home for every object, and keeping your room clean by improving and adjusting how you organize.
