Victorian Era was considered as a "golden era" in the entire history of Britain. This age witnessed a number of revolutions, innovations, discoveries and the development of highly educated middle class. It was only during the Victorian Era, when Great Britain reaped amazing profits and eventually became one of the most influential countries of this world. A lot of changes occurred during the Victorian era and was seen as a period of romance novels, charming and stylish dressing styles, well classy or influential architecture as well as beautiful and colorful painting.

The breakfast which Victorians took, consisted of omelets, seasons, bacons and huge variety of fruits. Let me tell you that the afternoon tea was the most prestigious appetizer of the day. The high society ladies started the custom of afternoon tea- because they stayed idle in the afternoon. The ritual of afternoon tea was invented by one of Queen Victoria's ladies, Anna Duchess of Bedford.

Eventually the "afternoon tea" became a common practice and the high class hotels copied this custom and started to offer afternoon tea to the guests. Common tea shops got opened for the general public and the tea dances were attended by Victorian ladies in order to select prospective husbands.
Generally, the Victorian people had large breakfasts, small lunches and late suppers. Dairy products such as meat, eggs and fish were normally served at every meal along with tasty green vegetables. During winter people liked having stews and soups, and during summers people liked eating chicken dishes. Different types of desserts, Boiled Beef, Pork or Turkey, Roast Mutton, Plum Pudding, Stewed Rabbits and Mince Pies were made by the cooks during vacations and special events, so that everyone can enjoy the feast. The Victorian meal comprised of various courses. In the first course appetizers such as raw or baked oysters were served along with beer or wine. Some other common drinks which served were Perrier, lemonade, hot tea and root beer.
The second course of meal had soup together with fried or baked fish. The main course was prepared with utmost attention- because people waited to have it. The main course had lots of vegetables together with roasted chicken, beef, and soft baked breads, pork and pasta.
The Victorian people believed in living to the fullest and ate their hearts out!
