Of course, you only need this tool if you are going to be very very serious about your garden's plants. A good example of someone who needs a soil tester is someone who grows orchids (flowers that are known for requiring very specific growing conditions to thrive). Soil testers are also great for farmers because they can be used to help the farmer plan what items to plant where every season based on the soil quality in different areas of the farm.
