The Portable Washer Dryer As A Solution To The Small Home
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
There is an appliance called the portable washer dryer which was made to fulfill the needs of people doing laundry but who live in cramped living spaces. This includes not only people living in trailers, condos and small houses, but also students living in dorm rooms who do not have the luxury of a nearby laundry room. The disadvantage of the portable washer dryer is that it is somewhat underpowered and takes smaller loads.
The spread of portable washer dryers has been driven by two issues that are faced by residents of small homes. First, they don't have the luxury of space that could easily have capacity for large home appliances. Next, the majority of condo units or apartments aren't truly designed to have capacity for bulky home appliances. Little homes however, typically lack gas vents or exhausts which clothing dryers will need.
Aside from portable washer dryers, there are two other kinds of compact washer and dryers that are named combo, and stackable. Stackable washer dryers are close to full sized except for their vertical physical arrangement, making them use up less area. The combo is a relatively new entrant into a market, that is in essence a two-in-one or a washer and dryer bundled into just one unit.
The stackable washer dryer is one where the dryer is placed atop the washer so that the two items are vertically aligned. Stackable washers and dryers are especially preferred because you would only have to take up one space to use both home equipment. If there is one downside in utilizing stackables, it is that the dryer might need to be placed well above the floor so that it is difficult to access.
Next on the list is the washer dryer combo which appears to be just one unit about 27 inches wide. You can do both washing and drying within a single compartment when working with the combination model. This suggests that for 50 percent of the space of the conventional washer and dryer, you've got a machine that performs both functions. Just about all combo units use condensation drying that calls for a smaller amount energy as compared to vented heating models.
This brings us back to the smallest and last resort in laundry appliances: the portable unit. These are more compact in size when compared to either the stackable or the combo. Portable units come in two models. The two forms of models are the ones run by electricity and the one which is handled by hand. The portables tend to have lesser capacity as compared to other home equipment so are only effective at holding a considerably smaller load of clothes.
