Crock Pots Are Wonderful For Preparing Delicious Meals
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
Like a lot of people, you probably have a crock pot in your kitchen that has been gathering dust. It's time to put it to good use! Here are some suggestions for delectable dishes that you can make with it.
Cooking Chili
Chili is delicious, hearty, and easy to make. It's perfect for those long winter nights that seem to go on forever. If you're wondering if the cold will ever end, you should dust off that crock pot and make yourself some chili. Plug it in and start off by cooking the ground beef in the bottom of the pot. Don't cook it separately in a pan, or else you won't be able to enjoy the juices from the beef as a part of your chili. Once the meat is ready you can throw in your beans and your other ingredients, and then just let it simmer for a while. Before you know it, you'll have a hearty bowl all to yourself.
Cooking Shredded Pork
It can be tough to shred pork that isn't very tender, but when you cook pork using a crock pot it will be so succulent and juicy that it will fall apart at the slightest touch. You can easily make tamales, tacos, burritos, sloppy joes or sandwiches from pork this tender.
But the way you get yourself some pork that's tender enough to shred at the slightest touch is by using a crock pot. Buy yourself a big piece of pork and let it soak in the crock pot for most of the day, and by the time you're ready to complete your dish, your pork will fall apart at the slightest poke of a knife. It's easy.
Spaghetti and Pasta
Although it's recommended that you boil the actual pasta in a pot, crock pots are still an excellent way to prepare the sauce. When your pasta is finished boiling, drain it and set it aside, and then turn to the crock pot with the ingredients for your sauce.
Cook the ground beef in the crock pot and then add the tomato sauce or pasta sauce that you have already made. You might also want to add some other ingredients into the mix like olives, stewed tomatoes, and spices. All make great additions to pasta sauce. Make sure you drain the pasta before you add it to the sauce and stir it around until it's nice and warm.
Chorizo
This is one of the quickest things to cook up in the crock pot. Buy some pork chorizo from the store along with some eggs. Mix them together in the bottom of the pan until they are cooked together, and once they're done, shred some cheddar cheese on top of them. Put the lid back on the crock pot and let the cheese melt. Soon, it will be ready for you to enjoy. In my opinion, it's served best on flour tortillas.
So stop ignoring your crock pot! Do you like chili? Do you like shredded pork? Do you like to combine your pasta with your custom pasta sauce so that by the time they're done, the meal has blended to perfection? Do you like chorizo with flour tortillas sprinkled with melted cheddar? Do you want all of these things with limited preparation time? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, it's time to wipe the dust off that thing and get to work. It's time to eat!
