Different cells within our body are continuously replacing one and another. It may be due to wear and tear or growth of new body cells that are continuously needed by our body. So when each cell produces two daughter cells, one goes to form a new cell while the other goes on to replace an existing old cell.
Similarly our hair too has a lifecycle. Almost 90% of them are growing at any one point in time. The others which are not growing fall off as each hair can only last from 2 to 3 years on average.
Therefore do not be alarmed if you find few hairs stuck to your comb or hairbrush any particular day. But alarm bells should start ringing when you find lots of hair on your comb or brush and scalp's surface visible. Enter: the era of darkness, doom and despair!
Of course nobody wants hair like Medusa as she is commonly portrayed but going bald can be anybody's nightmare. Hair loss like this can affect men, women and children; but this phenomenon is more commonly visible in men. For men they can start going bald as early as their twenties and this is where they start resembling a circus clown.
There are a lot of factors attached to this common occurrence that is now easily treatable. If you've had a major surgery or if you are under treatment for a particular illness then hair loss might occur like we see in chemo patients. This loss of hair might be occurring due to any medicine's reaction like the blood thinners or anticoagulants.
Stress takes its toll on your hair as well like it does with all areas of your body. Thyroid gland which is known as the master gland controlling hormones may also result in hair fall if it is mal functioning. Baldness can be hereditary too and also other factors that result in excessive hair loss e.g. lack of iron that causes anaemia and fungal scalp infection.
