Alternative After-Prom Ideas

For some teens, the common idea that prom night has to include underage drinking and sex isn't appealing. If this describes you, here are some fun and safe after-prom activity ideas:
Dinner: It's a good idea to make reservations way in advance of prom night. Yours is probably not the only prom in town that night and it's no fun to wait around for a table. Since you are already dressed fancy you might as well go to a fancy restaurant even if your budget only allows dessert or appetizers. On the other hand, it can also be fun to show off by being way overdressed at a fast food restaurant or all-night diner.
An Activity: Some fun things to do after prom include going bowling, playing miniature golf, seeing a movie, or going to a comedy club.
An After-Party: A prom after-party is a fun and inexpensive way to hang out with your date or group after prom. If you talk to your parents or the parents of a friend who shares your values and tell them you want to stay away from the usual after-prom activities they'll probably be happy to let you use their home for a small after-party. Do you know any parents' homes with a large-screen TV, with a game room or pool table or with a hot-tub? When you find a home, arrange to have private use of the family-room for the night, meaning the parents will be home but they won't compete with you for use of the TV and they'll keep any younger children from bothering you and your date or group. Make sure the parents know the party might run very late, and they agree to stay awake the whole time. Rent some good movies and ask everyone to bring their favorite games.
Prom Sunday: Wearing your dress or tux to church the Sunday after prom gives the girls one more chance to look fabu and the guys one more chance to wear the tux before they have to return it on Monday. It's a good idea to keep your corsage/boutonniere in the refrigerator so that it stays fresh until Sunday morning. If you can swing it, get your date to come with you to church.
With a little bit of planning and creativity you can keep the fun rolling strong after prom without doing anything to compromise your beliefs.
