A question that is frequently asked by both men and women is, "Will my yeast infection go away by itself?" Maybe it is because of embarrassment or maybe they just don't understand how serious a yeast infection can become but many people are just reluctant to seek help for this painful and sometimes serious problem.
If you are one of millions of women and men who suffer from yeast infections you are probably experiencing a wide and strange variety of symptoms ranging from mild rash and itching to horrible pain and discomfort. You may be experiencing these symptoms on the inside or the outside of your body...or maybe both. The symptoms may be constant or you may feel horrible one day and not-so-bad the next.
To understand whether or not a yeast infection can go away on its own it is important to understand just what this infection actually is. What is commonly called a yeast infection is actually a mold infection that occurs when there is an overgrowth of yeast organisms within the body. By far the most common yeast is called Candida.
Candida is actually helpful to our bodies and it occurs naturally in or on the vagina, mouth, throat, skin, and digestive tract. When our bodies are properly balanced yeast does not cause any problems. The body's natural defenses and helper bacteria keep the yeast under control. Only when conditions are not right within the body does yeast grow out of control and cause an infection. Once the yeast is out of control and causing symptoms it is very difficult or impossible for the yeast to go away by itself...without some type of treatment.
When people talk about their yeast infections going away on their own they are actually talking about the symptoms going away; not the infection. You can simply try to "wait it out" and hope the body can recover by itself and fight back against the yeast overgrowth. However, the battle is usually lost by the time the yeast has taken hold and the symptoms appear. The body's ability to fight back and win against this infection is very limited.
Many people try to treat the symptoms by using prescription or over-the-counter medicines. While these treatments often bring temporary relief from the symptoms they are not permanent cures. While the symptoms might go away temporarily they will almost always reappear later...maybe in the same location and maybe somewhere else in or on the body. When we treat the symptoms of a yeast infection in one area we often force the infection into the body where it will continue to grow stronger. It will resurface later causing even more pain and it will be even harder to treat.
The honest answer to the question, "will yeast infection go away by itself?" is "No." Sometimes the symptoms will appear to go away on their own but the infection will still be there until the yeast overgrowth is completely eliminated from the body. Fortunately, there is a simple, natural way to completely rid the body of these horrible infections and keep them away for life.
