Tips for Losing Weight After Pregnancy
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
If you aren't happy with the pounds you have gained while you were pregnant, don't freak out. You can lose those pounds without much hassle if you know what to do. You may be thinking that you will not have the time to exercise because your baby is so young that it needs to have you super close by almost all of the time. However, your baby likely naps often. If you get into the habit of doing your workouts when your baby takes a nap, you'll see lots of results. Here are three specific things that you can do while your baby is napping that will supercharge your day and help you feel and look as good as you want!
Some styles of dancing are great ways to lose weight, Latin is only an example of one with two effects that can help. This type of dancing helps burn calories, make you feel sexier as you swing your hips, tap your feet and roll your shoulders. Online videos and workout dvd's are a great way to learn a few dance moves even if you aren't perfect at them. This is one way to get a good cardio workout that's fun and doesn't feel like work. While you watch the weight fall off you will continue to have fun and will be more likely to stick with it.
Pilates: Pilates might seem slow (or lame) but it helps you burn 226 calories every hour.
That's quite a lot of calories with very few stretching movements on your part. You can find some videos online or you can buy a DVD (or a book) that will teach you a few moves that you can do while your baby is asleep. Laying on your back with your knees bent is one of the best post natal exercises you can after you give birth if you want to lose weight. Breathe in and put your hands behind your head. Then let your air out while you lift your shoulders and head off the floor (while simultaneously contracting your abs). Then, straighten out your legs and lift them into a forty five degree angle from your body while you stretch out your arms and keep your palms down. While you take a five beat inhale, pump your arms rhythmically. Then use five beats to breathe back out. Try to do 100 of these and you'll be in great shape in no time at all.
The Bicycle: In spite of the name, this exercise does not mean that you have to ride a real bicycle. This ab exercise is perfect for women who want to lose the weight they gained during their pregnancy. First, lie on the floor with your knees bent and your calves parallel to the floor. Put your hands behind your head as you take in a deep breathe in and out while sucking in your gut. Keep your rear relaxed while you extend your right leg and rotate your right shoulder to meet your left knee. Your head and your shoulders need to raise up off the ground during this movement. Then, after you have gone back to your starting position, do the same thing on the other side. Regularly do three sets of twelve and twenty reps and you will quickly see your baby weight melt away. If you do these post-natal exercises three or more days per week, while keeping an eye on your diet, you should be able to shed that baby weight quickly and easily. The hard work and motivation you put into losing your baby weight will pay off when you see the results of the weight falling off.
