Don't worry if you are less than thrilled with the weight that you have gained during your pregnancy. Losing the weight is easy if you know what you should do. You may be thinking that you will not have the time to exercise because your baby is so young that it needs to have you super close by almost all of the time. However, your baby likely naps often. If you get into the habit of doing your workouts when your baby takes a nap, you'll see lots of results. Here are three specific things that you can do while your baby is napping that will supercharge your day and help you feel and look as good as you want!
Yoga: Yoga is an exercises that strengthens your body and helps you get back in shape from toning and stretching. The best part about yoga is that it's slow and non-impact so you can actually get your workout in while your baby is napping. There are lots of videos online that you can use for tutorials--there are also smartphone apps that you can use for inspiration when you need new moves to do. After you have done yoga for a little while you will notice that, not only do your clothes fit better, but that your body feels stronger and better as well.
Pilates: Pilates might seem slow (or lame) but it helps you burn 226 calories every hour.
That's a lot of calories for just doing a few stretching movements. There are videos, DVDs and books that you can use to learn the different moves that you can do while your baby takes a nap. Laying on your back with your knees bent is one of the best post natal exercises you can after you give birth if you want to lose weight. Breathe in and put your hands behind your head. Then, breathe back out as you contract your abs and lift your head as well as your shoulders off of the floor. Then, straighten out your legs and lift them into a forty five degree angle from your body while you stretch out your arms and keep your palms down. Inhale for five beats and, while you do, pump your arms in a rhythmic manner. Then use five beats to breathe back out. Try to do 100 of these each day and you'll be in fantastic shape in no time!
The Bicycle: In spite of the name, this exercise does not mean that you have to ride a real bicycle. This is an ab exercise that works really well for women who want to lose weight after giving birth. First, lie on the floor with your knees bent and your calves parallel to the floor. Put your hands behind your head as you take in a deep breathe in and out while sucking in your gut. Keep your rear relaxed while you extend your right leg and rotate your right shoulder to meet your left knee. Your head and your shoulders need to raise up off the ground during this movement. Then, after you have gone back to your starting position, do the same thing on the other side. Do three sets of twelve to twenty of these a day and before you know it, your pregnancy weight will be gone. If you do these post-natal exercises three or more days per week, while keeping an eye on your diet, you should be able to shed that baby weight quickly and easily. The hard work and motivation you put into losing your baby weight will pay off when you see the results of the weight falling off.
