If you want to lose weight fast and easy, a good program to try is the 3-day Cardiac Diet. It was supposedly developed to help cardiac patients trim down quickly prior to heart surgery. This is why it is sometimes referred to as the Birmingham Hospital Diet.
This diet is quite similar to the popular Mayo Clinic or Grapefruit Diet and also the Cleveland Clinic Diet. All these diets are variations on a theme of high-protein, low carb meal plans. The purpose of all these diets is to enable a person to lose as much weight as possible in three days.
The namesake hospitals and clinics have not publicly endorsed these 3-day diets, but they have been used for many years by many people who attest they do work.
The 3-Day cardiac diet is a high protein, limited calorie diet that calls for primarily eating vegetables and lean protein or meat. Because of the amounts of vegetables and meat you are encouraged to eat, there should be no risk of nutritional deficiencies.
Stick to the diet for three days only - not any shorter or longer. You risk affecting your health and slowing down metabolism if extended past three days. The calorie and nutrition provided is not advisable for long term use.
Breakfast on this diet calls for a lot of protein and some fats. Your usual morning meal will be about half a cup of water-packed tuna or cottage cheese. This will be added on two eggs that you can cook anyway you like - just don't include more cheese or dairy.
Breakfast is key because the mix of protein and fat will keep your hunger down throughout the day. It also helps with muscle building crucial to weight loss. It's important not to skip breakfast and to eat a full meal. You can even enjoy some coffee or tea along with it. Just skip the sugar and creamer.
For lunch you'll be having some tuna and fresh greens. On days one and two, you should have a half a cup of water packed tuna, and a big salad. The salad must be all vegetables - croutons and cheese not allowed. But you can indulge a bit with the olive oil dressing since good fats are good for proper metabolism. On day three, your tuna must amount to a full cup.
Dinner is when you will be eating your portion of lean meat for the day. Just make sure it is not breaded or slathered on with sauce. Your choice meat must be accompanied by a serving of two kinds of vegetables. These must be served steamed and flavored with some butter. Don't skip the butter, but do skip any additional sauce.
Bread, pasta, potatoes or any other starches are not allowed on the 3-day Cardiac Diet. This was specially formulated to have a high protein, high fiber and low carb content so you can lose weight fast.
Hydration is important in this diet. Drink at least 64 ounces of water everyday. That's the minimum. Follow the program to the letter and you will see the pounds drop off.
So that's how to achieve quick, easy weight loss. But remember, it does not end here. To keep the pounds from coming back, eat sensibly, exercise regularly.
