There are many mistruths out there when it comes to cellulite, though many people still believe they are the truth. It's time to take a closer look and attempt to stop cellulite myths so that more people can find the relief that they really need to fully enjoy their life.
This lumpy appearance often shows up on the backside of the legs and rear end or the undersides of the arms. It causes great concern even for healthy and athletic people who would otherwise love every aspect of their body. Even people who are in great physical condition fall prey to a self-confidence issue due to this condition.
The first myth that needs to be tackled is that only overweight people get this condition. It is often believed that the lumpiness is due to too much fat in the body, but even skinny people who watch what they eat and maintain high levels of fitness are often affected.
This is because it can happen to anyone, no matter what size you are or how much you weigh. Research as connected it with genetics, though being in good physical shape does greatly reduce how visible the problem is.
The second myth is that you can use diet and exercise to completely erase the problem. Considering it is just as likely to appear on a size 4 body as it is on a size 20, it is not likely that just watching what you eat or working out harder is going to make it go away. But, the tighter skin of a physically active person will hide the lumpy appearance much better.
The third myth is that it occurs only on women. Some men do suffer from the condition as well.
If you really want to stop cellulite from taking over your body your best bet is to keep your body in the best shape possible to reduce the appearance of the problem, and then use over the counter creams or gels that can reduce it even further over time.
