Want To Jump Higher?

Do you want to jump higher? If you're an athlete in just about any sport, jumping higher will give you a significant advantage. Sports such as basketball, football, and volleyball put a premium on jumping high. Practicing your sport alone won't help you jump any higher. It is something you need to train specifically for. There are many programs out there to help you increase your vertical jump. But what exactly makes a good program?
To start, the jump training system should not focus on one thing; it should be a multi-prong approach. Then, you need to enter the mindset of knowing without a doubt that you can jump higher and meet or exceed your goals. And lastly, choose your program and commit your body and mind to it.
First, you want to find or put together a multi-faceted routine that incorporates diet, strength training, speed training, flexibility, technique, and recovery time. Your diet should cut out all processed foods and simple carbohydrates. Focus on eating quality protein and complex carbohydrates. Also drink plenty of water; no soda, beer, energy drinks, etc. The strength training aspect should focus mainly on your jumping muscles. Your quadriceps are the main ones used to propel you higher, so make sure to include squats, which is the best exercise for them. For speed training, use plyometrics as well as jumping rope. Flexibility training would consist of various stretches, again focusing on jumping muscles. Improving your jumping technique can even add a few inches to your vertical. Study videos of the best dunkers, high jumpers, and volleyball players and you'll see the techniques they have in common. Apply those to your jumping. And the most overlooked facet is recovery time. In my opinion, the recovery period you give your body between training sessions is just as important as the workout itself.
Next, you must believe you can reach the goals you have set. Studies by prominent psychologists have shown that adopting a positive outlook in regards to your jump higher program can actually help you reach your goals. Just as a player at the free throw line pictures the ball going right through the net, if you can visualize yourself jumping higher in your sport, it will naturally come easier for you.
And finally, once you have chosen or put together a program to increase your vertical jump, commit one hundred percent to it. Do not take shortcuts. Do not skip "just one day." Do not cheat on your diet "just this once." Finish every repetition you set out to do. Stay in the gym for as long as you plan to. Failing to adhere to their plan is where most people fall short of their goals to jump higher. Deep down we all know this to be true, but even so, it is the main reason people can't reach their goals. Dieters are a great example. Some fully commit to their diets and have success (no matter what diet they are on), while others want to get in shape, but cannot stick to their plan.
In conclusion, look for a great jump higher program, know that by following your chosen program you can increase your vertical jump, and fully execute the program. Good luck with your training. I'm confident you will be jumping higher in no time!
