My Boyfriend Broke Up With Me- What Do I Do Now?
Go to: Previous Article Next Article
Since girls are more open about their emotions than guys, most heartbreak stories come from girls, which doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re the ones who usually get dumped. Such stories are featured on the radio, TV and in internet forums. While the problems and situations are not the same, they all end with one intricate problem: my boyfriend broke up with me, what do I do now?
I'd be fully flustered if my boyfriend broke up with me, especially if my world was all about him. It's not easy to see your life without him after you've been together for quite a while because you've basically planned your entire life with him in the picture. You must adjust your everyday routine because he's no longer included in it anymore.
If he habitually stayed at your place or if you shared the same place, adjustment is going to be particularly complicated. Despite the sufficient time to consider whether it would be right to just move on or to try to get him back, the first thing that goes through a girl's mind is ‘My boyfriend broke up with me, how do I handle it?
All other things will eventually come; what matters now is to learn how to cope with the emotions that will come rushing towards you right after a break up.
As opposed to what is commonly believed, crying and mourning is not wrong. While people will normally advise that you must cheer up and stay optimistic, there’s really no other way out. It’s all right to give yourself enough time to be depressed at present and be positive afterward. A good cry is alright provided that you don't stay long in it. Before I managed to get on my feet and start to take charge of my life, I would mourn for 2-3 days, not continuous, if my boyfriend broke up with me.
You should constantly avoid trying to contact him after the mourning stage. The best thing to do is to have no contact with your ex is whether you're trying to get him back or move on. It would be complicated when you try not to ask him to take me back with the understandable anxiety if my boyfriend broke up with me. On the other hand, it will only worsen things as desperate behavior is unattractive and communicating with him may just hurt you more.
Since self-pity is never a good thing, try to keep yourself busy after the break-up to avoid depression. To keep the ‘my boyfriend broke up with me’ thought out of your head, plan out different activities. Avoid the places you two visit frequently and the things you used to do together. Try doing new things by coming out of your comfort zone. Who knows, you might learn new things about yourself, and eventually make you a better person.
