Can I Live Green, As Well?

In the last few years, global warming has been a warning for us all. A recent trend has been to go green. Living a green life, also known as sustainable living, is a person's desire and focus to conduct their lives in a manner that is deemed to be healthy for the Earth. There are many options of how to do this.
Reducing Waste and Consumption.
A good place to begin living a greener life is to attempt to reduce your consumption of energy. Replace all of the light bulbs in your home and office with compact fluorescent bulbs. They cost more, but save a lot of money on your electric bill. Compact florescent bulbs can last anywhere from five to fifteen times longer than standard incandescent light bulbs. This cuts down on production costs and your expense in purchasing the products. You also save trips to the store for new bulbs. Remember, everything is connected, so a savings in one area can extend to other areas of your life.
Reuse and Recycle
Now that you have reduced your consumption of newly purchased items, it's time to extend the life of what you have in your collection. Before you throw an item away, see if you can reuse or transform it. You don't have to be a crafter or a carpenter to do this. Think outside the box. Look at the empty shoe boxes in your closet. Find other uses before tossing them in the garbage. You can use them in your bathroom to store cosmetics, or in your living room to store CDs. Recycling Refreshes an Old Item
There are many ways to recycle. Separating trash is a good starting point. Any paper including cereal boxes and other cardboard containers can be placed in the paper bucket of your trash area. Collect plastic bottles. There are many people already doing this. There are other recycling options. Make old sweaters into bags. Take old sheets, decorate them with stamps and paint and with a few alterations you can hand them as curtains.
Look over the stuff you are about to throw away. Another way to pass good items that you no longer like or use is to have a yard sale. You are encouraging second hand use of an object.
