Comic books are magnificent. Despite being short, they can deliver good quality stories. These stories can be adapted to any media as well. Good stories draw us into the characters and their situations because most of us can relate to them.
We can learn from the ways characters fail or succeed in dealing with their circumstances. With the recent release of the classic Watchmen, people can see that comic books can be of great quality and not just some cheap attempt to short tell a good book.
Everyone at one point in their life has probably read a comic book. If not, then one has probably watched a good movie about superheroes like Batman, Spider-man, Superman and the X-men. These movies on their own actually created a fan base which then resulted into comic reading.
Movie adaptations of comic books have birthed a lot of new comic lovers as most can't wait for the release of a sequel and have immersed themselves into the comic book world to get updated on what's happening.
However, comic book reading can take out a bit of your time and money. New comic books are released every week and for an average reader, who reads anywhere from 5 to 30 comic books weekly, it does take a chunk of your time and your allowance.
During my student days, I have experienced the hardships of carefully selecting what I'm going to buy with my limited allowance since comic scans where non-existent during those days. I had to buy every comic book I like just so I can avoid the feeling that I'm missing something.
