There are quite a number of massage chairs to choose from in the midrange level. One of the more prominent models from Panasonic is the EP 1285 massage chair. This is a leather grain massage chair that comes with an air system and a number of massage programs. Here is my review of the Panasonic EP-1285 massage chair.
In order to improve the circulation of the lower body, this recliner features an air massage system. The airbags are specially contoured to provide greater blood circulation. They work in conjunction with the air massage system to provide stimulating relief to the calves and feet.
There are nine basic massage modes to select from. There are four automatic programs and three pre programs for specific parts of the neck, back and shoulders. This gives you quite a variety of massage treatments to choose from.
This recliner sports the Swede Atsu urban massaging system. This system accurately simulates the stroking of the palm of the hand, pressing with the heel of the hand, kneading with the thumbs and pressure with the thumbs.
Panasonic has been including a number of features which are similar to those offered by chiropractors. There is one automatic program which is named chiropractic. This is to help stretch out the muscles for relief and to promote better posture.
The remote control is fairly simple to use. There are automatic programs which work off the touch of a single button. You can open the remote control to access the manual controls as well.
One nice feature included in the EP 1285 massage chair is the leg stretch. The leg stretch is great for relieving stiffness in your lower back, hips and thighs. This system works in conjunction with the air system holding your ankles while the leg rest will stretch out your lower body.
You get a variety of different massage actions with this recliner. There are massaging actions such as kneading, Swedish, soft shiatsu, full roll, compression, Hawaiian, tapping and regional roll. This gives you a good selection of different massages to meet a variety of needs.
You can find a motorized chair back recline on the remote control. Just push the button to recline the chair back to the angle most comfortable for you. This is a great way to relax and get the perfect massage.
One feature that you will notice with the automatic programs is the auto shutoff. When the 15 minute automatic program is complete, the back rollers will reset at the top of the chair and the chair back will go back up right.
The leg Ottoman has two different massaging programs. You can use the leg stretch to alleviate stiffness in your lower back, hips and thighs. The air massage system which features 12 airbags helps to improve the circulation of the lower body.
The leg Ottoman is pneumatically controlled. A lever is built into the side of the chair for raising the leg rest. You must use your legs to push down on the leg Ottoman to return it to its lowered position.
Panasonic has done a great job in programming a number of massages into this recliner. However, some of these massages do not penetrate very deeply. I felt that many of them were just too soft and superficial for providing the relief that I would like.
Overall, the Panasonic EP-1285 massage chair has some nice features. It also comes with full grain leather upholstery. The air massage system is a great feature, but the back massage is a little weaker than other models in this category.
