Panasonic has moved into the "more for your money" market with the Panasonic Viera TX-P50G20. This television set is one model in this new value priced range. This unit comes with anew technology in plasma that uses much less power than the plasma screens of the past.
One of the biggest concerns with plasma screen televisions is how easily the screen could be damaged. With the new line of Panasonic televisions, like the Panasonic Viera TX-P50G20 they have addressed this issue with the "tough screen" technology. This screen can withstand slight collisions and not be damaged. This is high technology considering the basic features on this model.
Despite the basic features the Panasonic Viera TX-P50G20 TV has an HD TV set screen that displays the picture in exacting sharpness. The 1,920 x 1080 pixels let you see the sharpness from across the living room. The ideal viewing distance will be in the TV set operation and manual guide.
There seems to be some form of competition between the Sony Corporation and Panasonic for the amount of "Hertz" your screen resolution uses. Sony is currently pushing the "600 Hertz" number. Panasonic has answered that with a new "600 Hertz Intelligent Frame Creation Pro." You must see Panasonic's small print though, it states "sfd" which means "sub field drive." Panasonic is displaying its pixels on the screen in 600 Hertz but the TX-50G20 is actually a 100 Hertz television. Panasonic states that the fluid movement comes from it's new technology.
The most important thing to look for when buying a television would be the picture. It really does not matter what numbers and letters the company holds up to the technical customer, it all comes back to the picture that you see.
During special testing that some of the evaluators do on the plasma televisions, there was reported that this Panasonic Viera TX-P50G20 television set displayed a slight amount of flickering and is not noticeable to the naked eye. It was also reported that some of this was noticed during DVD play.
The TX-P50G20 TV set scored very high in picture resolution tests. The picture was defined as only a slight amount off of perfect. When it came to the contrast test, it was perfect. The testing also revealed that the picture was the same from all angles.
Even though the mid range TX-P50G20 was listed as being equipped with basic features only, it does include a slot for your SD and SDHC card so you can watch your JPEG and AVCHD pictures and videos. The Panasonic Viera TX-P50G20 does not offer any other multimedia technology.
This value packed TX-P50G20 television set comes to you out of the box ready to receive any current TV set broadcast system that is currently available. There may be a problem some time in the future as the unit does not come equipped to receive C1 Plus access.
