More importantly, when they get back to their job, they have to pick up where they left off and this slows down their productivity. Taking a drum full of offcuts outside and dumping it costs more than you might imagine it would.
Some forklift attachments are so cheap, they're worth having on hand just for occasional use. The telescoping hoist mentioned above is an example of this. It is just a simple hoist, but because it is simple, it is also versatile. Various types of fasteners can be hooked onto it and moved. As long as it can handle the weight, it is perfectly safe.
The cheapest way to do a job is always to do it right. The right way is the safe and efficient way. With the right forklift attachment, you can do the job right.
