There are different styles of hammers with some featuring an oversized strike face. This is an advantage because it makes hitting the target a little easier.
The Saw
Any project involves cutting wood to size. There are many types of saws to choose and the one that is best for your particular project will vary. Small cuts are made simple with a hand saw. These tools are more versatile. When it comes to small corner cuts the hand saw is a whiz. Some have a three blade feature with a joiner and one for fine cuts.
Utility Knives
Using a heavy duty utility knife will handle will allow for precision cuts. Sometimes you'll run into situations that the only tool that will fit is a utility knife. You should have separate settings for different types of cuts. This type is a much easier knife to use with a better grip so they are worth the little extra money.
Hand Drills
Everyone wants an electrical drill, but sometimes a hand drill is better. This will give you more precision.
Chisel Sets
To finish projects, you will need chisels. Chisels not only make wide ridges but also can be used to make intricate carved details. You'll want a set of several chisels with one for gouging as well. You will need to hone the tools and kept that way.
Screw Driver Sets
You might want to have a set of screwdrivers or you may prefer the Universal Bit Holder with Ratchet set. Both will handle any job but the ratchet set will take a lot of the frustrations out of the work.
