Since the thirteenth century, ceramic tiles have been used in buildings and homes. They are considered to be the best multipurpose surface due to their impervious nature and ability to withstand extreme heat, moisture and stains. They also come in many colors, textures, designs, shapes and sizes. That is why many people prefer to use the ceramic tile for bathrooms, swimming pools and kitchens.
In early thirteenth century civilizations, tiles used to be used on the walls and decorative frames but not for flooring. This is because they were fragile and could not withstand the weight of humans, furniture and other things that are placed on the floor. However, thanks to technological advancements, ceramic tiles are now used as flooring material.
They are designed to resemble different surfaces. Some of these surfaces are marble, slate and granite. Because of this, they can be used in many areas of a building or residence to bring out the desired mood and look. There are so many designs which come in different sizes, colors and shapes. So there is a wide variety to choose from.
Arranging them on the wall or floor normally requires skill. They can be arranged into a field, accent or in a way so as to create beautiful mosaics. Tile mosaics were a popular trend during the early thirteenth century as is evident in Mesopotamian, Turkish and Egyptian buildings. This trend is still popular today and many mosaic designs can be found in many buildings and homes.
They are also easy to repair. Chipped and cracked tiles can be replaced easily as long as you have some extra tiles of the same design.
Finally, repairing them is very easy. The only thing you need to do is identify the faulty tiles and replace them with other tiles. So you do not have to undergo the trouble of replacing the whole surface.
