Astronauts also need watches ready to face harsh conditions. Their watches are tested several times to make sure that they dont fail those who need to wear them. Space watches also have chronograph. Different brands were chosen during the time by space missions. The most accurate of them were the Russian, the Chinese or the American astronauts . Besides these brands astronauts sometimes made other choices.
One of the most famous watch manufacturers designed a watch for a private exploration of the space. This watch had to be suitable both for space travel and for spacewalk, meaning a short trip outside the ship. In space missions electronic watches are not a good options, because they can be damaged by radiations. But this watch is moved by spring drive to guarantee its accuracy in unfriendly conditions.
On Earth time is perceived in a certain way while in space time is totally different. The way we distinguish among a.m and p.m. is no longer useful in space. That is why watches used by astronauts need to be able to work well despite the unusual conditions. Watches can be affected by many factors among which the rapid changes in temperature varying from very high temperatures to very low ones, the pressure or the radiations.
